Air Canada Airlines increases capacity to Santiago and Buenos Aires with Boeing 777-300ER arrived

By Ricardo J. Delpiano via Live from SCL

order to adapt the capacity offered in the Northern Hemisphere winter season, and in view of the success that the company has been gaining in the market of Argentina and Chile, with a significant increase in the transport of passengers and cargo, Air Canada will introduce its new Boeing 777-300ER on the route Toronto-Santiago-Buenos Aires.

The measure will become effective starting from 1st December 2009 and will extend over the southern hemisphere summer, which will allow Air Canada to improve significantly, not only in terms of capacity offered, but in the quality of its services with the advantages of the newest Boeing 777s have company. Unlike other seasons, Air Canada has decided to increase capacity at one of the main routes to South America, rather than modify the service, reducing or increasing the capacity according to the circumstances as has been implementing since the Canadian airline landed in Chile and Argentina. In equal measure, the decision to introduce the B777-300ER Air Canada indicated that its bid will not split between the two capitals such as occurred during the last summer season, betting directly by an increase in capacity, devoting only two aircraft for both markets instead of four, besides allowing to maintain services between Santiago and Buenos Aires, taking advantage of traffic generated between the two cities especially during the holiday season.

Air Canada will introduce its modern Boeing 777-300ER on the route Toronto-Santiago-Buenos Aires to count from 1 December 2009 to replace the Boeing 767-300ERs, as they spread throughout the summer season 2009/2010. Photo: Mike Moores / Airliners.net.

Reportedly, Air Canada will operate the route daily Toronto-Santiago-Buenos Aires and back, keeping the current schedule.

The introduction of the Boeing 777-300ER on the route will represent an approximate increase of 40% in daily capacity, equivalent to 4,886 seats offered per week, making Air Canada into a North American company offers more space. At the end of the first quarter, the airline has transported 176,120 passengers per kilometer, representing an increase of 0.1% compared to the previous period. However, in the cargo business, the company is no stranger to the world situation, recording a drop in quarterly cumulative of 2,860 tons per kilometer, representing a negative growth of -53.1% as indicated by the Civil Aeronautics Board.
One of the reasons for the success of Air Canada is the interesting offer nonstop flights to the North American country, and the possibilities of connection to all cities in Canada and major U.S. cities U.S., plus the offer of flights to Europe, Asia and Israel from Toronto, Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver. The company has a modern fleet of 35 Airbus A319s, 41 A320s, 10 A321s, eight A330-300, 30 Boeing 767-300ERs, 6 B777-200LR and 11 B777-300ERs, plus 15 and 45 Embraer ERj170 ERj190. Its regional affiliate Jazz has 13 aircraft CRJ100/-200 Bombardier, CRJ700 and Dash 8-100/-Q300. The Boeing 777-300ER aircraft are configured in two classes, with 42 seats in Executive First and 307 seats in Economy Class and currently operate in high density routes from the company to Asia and Europe and Latin America in Sao Paulo.

Despite its difficult financial situation, which fell 39% according to its latest quarterly balance sheet, says Air Canada is in a good position on the difficult global economic scenario, for which only need to make some "minor adjustments", without significantly restructure the company, according to said Calin Rovinescu Reuters last week.

by Gaston Doval

Ever since the government took over the airline, discussed various possibilities to realize the issue. There was talk from the incorporation from 25 to 30 family aircraft ordered by the group A32S Marsans as an agreement for the expropriation of the company, as well as that really is already in place - the replacement of the old family 737, for its newer models The Next Generation.

is in this context that after the signing of 10 737-700 operating leases, the Argentine government took a 11th aircraft, worth between 40 and 50 million U.S. dollars.
