BQB Airlines Air Canada to Madrid

by Gaston Doval
With the recent launch of his Department / Product of Europe through Buquebus Tourism, BQB Airlines filed with the agency Administrator Uruguayan (National Directorate of Civil Aviation and Aviation Infrastructure) an order to start operating the route Montevideo - Madrid.
The request, made on March 31, said that the route is with intermediate points in Brazil, as did PLUNA, but these intermediate points are arranged at the convenience of the air. The same document mentions the operation of an Airbus A330, which would be hired / rented in the coming weeks as Buquebus team leave for Europe.

As already mentioned in a previous note , the union of the two companies Buquebús, Tourism and BQB Buquebús Airlines, encourage growth of both, helping to better manage costs and greater predictability for the company in its offerings. BQB

Airlines, also presented its logo design and interiors , how they will design their planes after application of the corresponding painting. The ATR72-500 will come new ones that were made for India's Kingfisher Airlines (never taken), will be as follows:

Argentine airspace radar installation of the 737 NG

by Gaston Doval

It may or may not agree with the National Government's actions in any way. However, since in 2006 the former President Nestor Kirchner, after coming forth from the movie Air Force Company, signed what would be the radar installation of all or most of Argentine airspace.

National Government, given the situation (still current) Argentine airspace, decided to take the important step to instruct the state-owned INVAP SE (State Society for Applied Research) to build 2 types of radar. A type of radar Primary (three dimensions or PSR , for its acronym in English Primary Surveillance Radar) for large air spaces and a secondary radar (SSR or , for its acronym in English Secondary Surveillance Radar) for smaller spaces, such as areas airport control. The names of these will be MET I (Assessment Method I) and Inkan (friend in Mapuche), respectively. Current status

Today only 11% of the Argentine territory is covered by radar, none of them primary and all secondary type radars that monitor smaller spaces. Radars are located in Buenos Aires, Cordoba, Mendoza, Mar del Plata and Paraná.

Here's a rough situation what is the reality of the radar in the airspace Argentina:

installed capacity to control only 11% of Argentine territory. It is expected that the installation of the 11 secondary radars developed by INVAP INKAN can achieve a goal like that is Chile, with its entire radarizado continental airspace. Graphic: Gastón Doval

During the crisis of the radar in 2006 and 2007, Spain gave Argentina a English military radar. The installation was made at Morón Air Base.

As all development stages there was experimental evidence. In the case of Inkan, the first Argentine radar, they were completed in October 2008. The two test radars were in Bariloche and Quilmes be placed in service during the coming months, having taken English and pre-installed radar and being it back to Spain.

addition to the secondary radars already installed in Bariloche and Quilmes, the blog of Jose Ignacio Longo reported on the campus of Tucuman Airport is starting construction and assembly of a tower structure that will house one of 11 Inkan requested by the Government. Here are photos taken from Article authorization of the owner of the blog:

The construction of the tower to house the radar is the least take the whole process. The training of drivers will be in Cordoba and is estimated to take at least a year, so you can use to their full potential by radar. Photo: Antonio Ferroni / The Gazette

Thus, Tucumán is the first airport NOA in radarizado be, with a range of 200 nautical miles (or 400km) which has the Inkan partially help to combat the entry of cheap illegal narcotics / drugs from the neighboring republics of Paraguay and Bolivia, to the entry into service I MET radar, who detect aircraft without transponders without the need for "collaboration" (ie, that are identified voluntarily) for control.

Here is a little more information on the radar MET I and compared its performance to conventional radar. I MET is currently in development and testing by INVAP.

The radar installation seems underway, and the first results are expected in Bariloche and Tucumán raising the percentage of coverage by radar control of the country. After the commissioning, will continue with the additions of Radar Inkan to increase by 350% coverage of the country (remember that the coverage is effective until Inkan the 31,000 meters). In areas where Inkan not have coverage, I MET will be responsible for the task.

With this, the country and unfriendly / outdated air traffic control system, are a step closer toward modernization and helps improve the efficiency of the airline since, providing better control over the aircraft can make routes more direct and less distance separating aircraft. This helps improve flight times and reduce delays on the ground by now left the distance between flight controllers and flight take offs and landings.

The future of Argentine airspace is promising, considering the conditions prior to this situation. The radar installation carry a large country such as Argentina and Brazil, involves a great job and investment insurance but will give results qualitatively. Only necessary that the Government follow the course of investment and its competent bodies to document and train their staff in the different situations that this new stage will provide airspace.
